The Union government has approved the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a 2.4-km flyover at Singanallur in Coimbatore, at an estimated cost of ₹170.82 crore. The project has been cleared by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The proposed flyover will be a four-lane carriageway along Trichy Road (NH-81) and is aimed at easing traffic congestion at the busy Singanallur and Uzhavar Sandhai junctions. The project also includes the acquisition of around 1,205 square metres of land.
Officials said the tender process is expected to begin within the next two months, and construction is likely to be completed within two years. Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel time in one of Coimbatore’s most congested corridors.
