On the first day of the week, gold prices in Chennai saw a sharp rise. The price of 22-carat ornamental gold increased by ₹320 per sovereign, bringing the rate to ₹90,800 per sovereign. Likewise, the price of gold per gram rose by ₹40, now selling at ₹11,350 per gram. The increase follows fluctuations in the international market that continue to impact domestic gold prices. On Saturday (Nov. 1), gold prices had already risen by ₹80 per sovereign, reaching ₹90,480 per sovereign, while the rate per gram stood at ₹11,310. Silver prices had also gone up slightly by ₹1 per gram, selling at ₹166. With today’s hike, gold prices have shown steady upward movement, reflecting the ongoing volatility in global markets.

Meanwhile, silver prices have also seen a slight dip – falling by Rs. 1 per gram to Rs. 165, with one kilogram of silver selling at Rs. 1,65,000. The recent decline in gold prices has brought some comfort and optimism among jewelry buyers and investors in the city.

Gold prices in Chennai rose by Rs. 320 per sovereign on Friday morning. On October 17, during the Diwali season, gold reached a historic high of Rs. 97,600 per sovereign. Since then, prices have been declining over the past week, with the sovereign dropping Rs. 4,000 in four days. As of Thursday, 22-carat gold was sold at Rs. 11,500 per gram and a sovereign at Rs. 92,000. On Friday, the price of 22-carat gold increased to Rs. 11,540 per gram, while a sovereign is being sold for Rs. 92,320. Meanwhile, silver, which has been experiencing a continuous decline, is being sold at Rs. 171 per gram today.

The price of gold ornaments in Chennai has continued to decline for the past few days. After a sharp drop of Rs. 3,680 per sovereign yesterday, gold prices have fallen by another Rs. 320 per sovereign today. Gold, which had been rising steadily earlier this month, has now seen a consistent downward trend. On October 18, the price of a sovereign dropped by Rs. 1,600, bringing the rate to Rs. 96,000. Subsequently, on Diwali day, gold prices decreased by Rs. 80 per gram to Rs. 11,920, while the price per sovereign fell by Rs. 640 to Rs. 95,360. However, on Tuesday, the price rebounded slightly, increasing by Rs. 80 per gram to Rs. 12,000, with a sovereign selling for Rs. 96,000. Yesterday (Oct. 22), gold prices plunged sharply – falling by Rs. 460 per gram to Rs. 11,540, and by Rs. 3,680 per sovereign to Rs. 92,320. Today (Thursday morning), the downward trend continued as the price dropped by another Rs. 40 per gram, bringing the rate to Rs. 11,500 per gram and Rs. 92,000 per sovereign. Meanwhile, silver prices have also seen a decline – falling by Re. 1 per gram to Rs. 174, with one kilogram of silver priced at Rs. 1,74,000.
